My computer needed a good clean and upgrade and I kind of lost all my awesome second Life photos.

Anyway I'm starting again, I have some interesting news and I'll let you all in on it in a future post.

I have a new skin and have been shopping up a storm.

I was a little bored today and while surfing the Internet I came across a fabric swatch that I really thought could work with my SL dress design. I actually tried a few different patterns but none worked as well as this one.

Tableau

I've mention this before, I love Tableau. Sure it's changed a lot since the volcanic eruption of 2007. But it still is somewhere I enjoy exploring and shopping.

Today I decided to spend the day in Tableau. First up I went on a little tunnel ride which brought up painful memories of the volcanic disaster. It was really cute.
Next I took some photos at the photo booth.
Played some drums.

Shoe Shopping

Now I have big wide feet in RL so I rarely am able to find shoes that are fashionable and fit. But in SL I can really love shoes.

A pair of shoes I really wanted to spend a bit of $L on was a pair of gold stilettos from Maitreya

I also really want them in Yellow but maybe when I have a little more $L to spare.

Also on a shopping note, I also bought this vest and Jeans from Armidi. I am so in love with Armidi's clothes, not only are they high quality but they also have a huge range their designers that will suit most peoples taste. It's well worth the pain in the arse lag, to buy their clothes.

Coming back to Second Life

Well I've posted everything from my old blog to this new and improved one. Not much has been happening since OCT last year. I haven't really been playing in SL for a long time, but recently I've just had the urge to play again. So I gave my SL Avatar a new look. I bought new Skin from Fashionably dead (and hair in first pic), Also some new clothes from Nylon Outfitters (the top, the rest were freebies from FD and NO) and finally some new shoes from Periquita Shoes.

I liked the FD hair but when I sore this one from Armidi I just had to have it. The little teddy on my shoulder and the necklace in the colours and black and gold is from Atelier AM.

Apart from a massive shopping spree, I've also beening doing what I always do in SL and that's chill out and explore.

Also on Sunday I became the proud owner of 512 sq m. of land.

I had spent hours looking for the right piece of land to set up my SL home. And when I sore this little block I knew I just had to have it. It came with the house and pond. Eventhough the house was not bad, I really wanted something else, So I found this little cottage. The only down side is I don't have many Prims left to furnish my house with much.

Melbourne Laneways

Yes I've been away again. Not much has been happening. But I did recently find this little gem in second life. It's based on Melbourne's cool laneways. I think they have done a ok job, it could be better but for what's there it's not bad. It'd be cool if there were shops with funky Melbourne indy designers.

I know this tram very well, I spent a huge part of my life catching the number 57 tram.

PS. I'm going to Japan again! YAY

Tableau volcanic eruption

I logged on only to find Tableau in Ruins. My beloved pretend home gone! Now I walk among the Tableau refugee camp waiting and hoping that it can rebuild.

Been away

It's been a long time since I've blogged. I have been playing SL off and on since my last post but not really that much because I have been experancing bad lad and weird image problems with the game, like this: (Anyone know how to fix it)

Apart from putting up with the weird game problem, I haven't really been doing much on second life apart from the usual shopping and exploring. (the outfit is by paper Paper Couture and hair by Nylon)

I did bring in the new year in game.

Tableau

Like I've mentioned I've fallen in love with a place in Second Life called Tableau.
I don't really know why I love it but there's just something about it. I've been there so often that when I'm in the fashionably dead store, people think I work there. I always make sure to tell them I don't, but it is always funny when it happens.

On of the coolest places is the is called the Blow hole. Shaped like a whale on the mountain over looking beautiful Tableau, the blow hole is a great meeting place to hang out and have fun with friends.

One of the things I love most at The Blow Hole is karaoke. :).

I also like relaxing in the treehouse.

Anyway if your looking for somewhere to explore, relax or sing. Tableau!

Now that I finally got my look sorted. It was time to get living in second life. Like I mentioned earlier, I want to get a full membership next month hopefully. The reason why is because I really really want to have a home for my avatar. But until then I have to find other things to do while in SL.

And the thing I love more to do then anything in SL is Exploring.

I went to this place where it's like where homeless people sleep. I stick out like a sore thumb.

I found this roller ring and found one of my new loves Roller skating.

I've meet a lot of people in Second life and some of them have befriend me, unfortunately I don't really have pictures of many of them. So the other day I took some picture of interesting people I sore around SL. But I mostly took some because when they were talking to me I found it funny how small they were to my Avatar. Not that small is a bad thing but my avatar is tall and it looks funny.

I meet this Newbie sim in a share house. She was nice, can't remember her name but we talked for a little while about being new to SL and then I had to go.

I meet this guy another Newbie at my fave island Tableau. He actually comes from Melbourne and is living in the UK I think. He was very new to Second life so I helped him out and added him to my friends list.

I didn't get a chance to meet this person but I liked the look of her Avatar and was going to ask her where she got her skin. Unfortunately she left before I looked at her profile.

When I sore this girls Avatar I thought wow, it's soo cute. I had to get a photo of her. I think her name was Renny. I said hello but I was too shy and didn't really know what to talk to her about. Also the guy looked good. It's about time the guy avatars look good.

Fashion Again?

I started to get sick from looking at my crap first clothes I designed and eventhough I was getting lots of good feed back, I was bored with them already. So then I came across Paper Couture's beautiful fashions and bought one of the outfits for 300L$.

Once again I was inpsired to try to make more SL clothes. But once again it wasn't that great.

But I did love the Cami I made, so I swaped the jacket I got from paper couture with my cami I designed in a few different colours.

I also redesigned it a little to look like this cami. but the first one was the best I think.
So now that I had new hair, clothes and skin. I was all set to explore the world of SL once again.

Money, Money, Money!

Finally the day came, I actaully had a good amount of L$ to spend in second life. It wasn't really a huge amount but it was very helpfull. I was thinking of getting the full member ship but because I am going away for two weeks on the 12th of November to Tokyo, I thought I better wait till I'm back and have more money.

The first thing I wanted to get with my new cash, was a new skin. I liked fashionably dead's skins so I bought it for 900L$. I was very happy with it.

Next I needed New hair. Sure I love the hair I had but it was time for a change. So I figuring that the hair in FD would suit the skin I got at FD i bought this hair for 350L$?. I liked it but the brown wasn't brown enough or at all for me so I decided that I'll keep this hair for an every now and then hair. And went on the search to find some new hair and clothes. (Update: forgot to mention that I have tried to recolour the hair but it turns the headband that colour).

While in seach of some new clothes and hair I found some more interesting places to hang out and explore. Eventually I found a good place that sold really beautiful hair selling for 250L$ each. I bought two.

Fashion bug

I had caught the fashion bug and I had to find out how to make good clothes in Second Life. The I got sided tracked when I found Fashionably Dead in Tableau. I instantly fell in love with the hand drawn clothes and skins at Fashionably Dead.
Tableau is my totally favorite place in secondlife

While browsing I noticed a free gift box which I instantly took. It had some of the best freebie clothes and inspired me to lighted up my image.

Having some new clothes that actually had some colour and good design made me want more. Unfortunately I spent a lot of my L$. So I thought it was about time I actually buy some L$ online. It wasn't that easy, I had to wait two weeks till my next pay. So in the meantime I did a little surfing.I also researched how to make SL clothes and leaned about Alphas and saving my design as a targa. And then I came across a tool which was the biggest help of all. I found it here http://dedricmauriac.wordpress.com/2006/10/31/sl-clothes-previewer-trick-or-treat-sack/
It lets you preview the clothes you design before you upload. Which btw was what I was mostly spending my L$ on.

So after a few hours I can up with this. I made the shorts and the top. It's not much I know and it's not even that nice looking but it's my first successful out fit and the shorts aren't too bad.

Back in Second Life

When I finally got my computer back, I wasn't too into playing second life and I had a lot of work. But on Oct 30th I really started to get into Second Life all over again and this time I went on a bit of a spending spree. First by buying a sky diving parachute and exploring as much as I could.

I continued to explore secondlife and found some many beautiful and cool places

I even found the real second life Adidas store and bought this shoes there for 50L$. The cool thing about them is you can jump around in them.

Eventually I wanted to try making my own clothes. I had made some clothes in The Sims 2 before but this was much harder. And it didn't really work out very well.

I then thought maybe I should stick to a simple t-shirt design and came up with this. I made it in a number of colours. But still wasn't too happy.

I decided that it was probably about time I start writing in this blog about my adventures in

Second Life.So Let's start back in the Beginning....

I first found out about second life on the 19th of August. There was a full page article in the Saturday AGE newspaper, entitled "My virtual chance at a second life" written by a Chris Johnston, second life name is Balfour MacAlpine. The article caught my eye, at first seeing the large photo on Anshe Chungs Avatar, I thought the article was about my beloved game The Sims 2. But as I started to read it I fell in love with the idea of Second Life.Unfortunately at the time I had just moved out of my apartment and my computer was packed up in storage.I had to wait 3 days till I could be born in to my second life. And so one the 22nd of August (Australian time) my Avatar was born.

This is my first photo I took in Second Life.

The first days were the hardest in Second life, I was broke and I was suffering so much lag, it was driving me crazy. Eventually I found my feet with the help of so many freebies and money tree locations.Most of my time in those early days were spent on the big island, watching the sun set.

While waiting for my free newbie hair from Gurl 6, I would pay around with my avatars looks and clothes. Clothes which I got free from many different newbie packs.

One of the best places I went to as a newbie was The Shelter. Although the lag was annoying because of the number of people going there. The Shelter was so welcoming and friendly and had some great freebies and info for me.

Finally my new hair arrived, I loved this hair! Also love my new skin I found for free, unfortunately I didn't like the fact that the bra and under pants were drawn on the skin. Also I wish the lip stick was a bit more lighter.

The New Jaz

After trying 101 different skins, some good, some better then good and some just disgusting. I finally came across this skin. I liked it and decided it would be good to show my dark side. This is the moment I think I really started to get in to second life

At this point a lot of what I was doing was trying to make L$, and would dance the night away on these dance pads.
When I wasn't dancing, I was exploring, I had a lot more pics of places I had been but I lost them.

I meet lots of nice helpful people but none more nice then Aceblade Boivin (sorry no pic). I met Aceblade I think while I was dancing. Anyway he took me to some interesting place and bought me this bikini so I could enjoy siggy's waterworks island. He even showed me this cool house he was making.Unfortunately my computer crashed and it was nearly a month before I got it back. And I never sore him online again.
